Romania takes center stage at World Organic Trade Fair in Germany

Romania is Country of the Year at the BioFach World Organic Trade Fair, which starts today (February 13 ) in Nuremberg, Germany. Both the country's existing organic agriculture and its potential for future have made Romania the focus of this year's BioFach in Nuremberg, Germany.

As well as wide range of organic products from around the world, including wines, coffee, cheese a fresh fish, several awards will be awarded at BioFach 2013, including a best new product award and an olive oil prize.

Last year's event brought 2,420 exhibitors and more than 40,000 visitors from all around the world to promote organic produce, forge partnerships or just to sample some of the foods on offer.

Organic agriculture is on the rise in Romania with the number of certified organic farms trebling between 2010 and 2011 to reach 9,800, according to Romanian organic association Bio Romania.

As Country of the Year, Romania will feature in several debates at the event, including Organic Agriculture - Horizons 2020 and Transparency and Confidence in Organic Farming from Romania.

Romania's participation in the event is running in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Bio Romania association.

BioFach 2013 is on from February 13 – 16 at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center. The daily opening times are 09:00 – 18:00 and 09:00 – 17:00 on Saturday 16. On Thursday, there will be an evening opening session between 18:00 and 21:00.
