Romanian Govt. approves second budget amendment this year

Romania’s Government approved yesterday the second budget amendment this year.

Several ministries, including the Labor Ministry, Education Ministry, Health Ministry, Justice Ministry and Transport Ministry, received additional funds mainly to be able to pay wages and pensions. Labor Ministry will get the highest amount, namely RON 630.9 million (EUR 135.7 million).

The Government cut funds previously allocated to the Culture Ministry, Business Environment Ministry, Finance Ministry or the Regional Development Ministry. The Business Environment Ministry will see the largest cut, namely RON 78.5 million (EUR 16.8 million).

Romania’s annual economic growth in the third quarter of this year, which amounted to 8.8%, is the third highest in the world, prime minister Mihai Tudose said yesterday.

The budget amendment is a positive one, finance minister Ionut Misa said. Consolidated general budget revenues increased by RON 280.2 million (EUR 60.2 million) whereas the expenditures increased by RON 503.8 million (EUR 108.3 million) compared to the previous budget draft.
