Romania’s Royal Family celebrates King’s Day in Bucharest, Switzerland, Poland, Moldova

The Romanian Royal Family will celebrate King’s Day (May 10) through several events organized in Romanian capital Bucharest, Aubonne in Switzerland, Poznan in Poland, and Tepilova Mare in the Republic of Moldova.

The events marking King’s Day will begin on May 6 in Tepilova Mare village in Moldova, with the unveiling of a bronze bust of King Ferdinand I of Romania. Prince Radu will be present at the event.

Then, on May 10, King Michael I will welcome Priest Adrian Diaconu to his private residence in Switzerland, for a Te Deum ceremony.

Also on May 10, in Bucharest, Crown Princess Margareta, Prince Radu, and Princess Maria will attend a military ceremony and will lay flowers at the King Carol I statue located in the Royal Palace Square. Then, starting 17:00, a Garden Party will start at the Elisabeta Palace. The event, which has become a tradition, will bring together guests from both Romania and the Republic of Moldova, such as personalities of the central and local political authority, of the academic, cultural, scientific, and political areas, representatives of the civil society, and business people.

Next, on May 12, Prince Radu will attend the military ceremonies organized in Poznan, Poland, to mark giving the name "King Carol II of Romania" to the Logistics Battalion of the 17th Mechanized Brigade of the Polish Army. On this occasion, Princess Margaret will offer her patronage to the 17th Mechanized Brigade.

Also on May 12, at 19:00, a Royal Concert will start in Bucharest, at the "Mihail Jora" Concert Studio of the Romanian Broadcasting Society.

The series of events will end on May 14 with The King’s Oina Cup, organized on Arcul de Triumf Stadium. Oina is a national sport similar to baseball.

Last year, May 10 marked 150 years since the establishment of the Romanian Royal Family. Thus, on this day, thousands of people gathered at Peles Castle in Sinaia mountain resort to celebrate the holiday with the Royal Family.
