Romanian natural gas company Romgaz aims to expand abroad by entering a partnership in international projects with Azerbaijan’s state oil company Socar, Romgaz CEO Adrian Volintiru said in a press release after a meeting of the two companies’ top management in Baku.
Socar is interested in offshore exploration and exploitation in partnership with Romgaz, the press release reads.
The two companies could cooperate in projects such as Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and TransAdriatic Pipeline (TAP). Romania’s Romgaz expressed its interested in onshore gas projects in Azerbaijan and offshore projects in the Caspian Sea as well.
"The two companies will continue discussing possible cooperation in the coming period, to pinpoint what has been discussed in general terms. We have also identified the opportunity of sharing expertise in developing our storage capacities,” Volintiru said.
