Romania, last in EU for booking flights online

Over two-thirds of the air travels made by EU citizens in 2014 were booked online, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat.

Romania ranked last, with only 23% of all flights being booked online. It was followed by the Czech Republic (38%), Belgium (45%), and Greece (47%).

In contrast, 90% of all flights were booked online in Finland in 2014. The Netherlands saw 81% of its air travels booked online.

Some 55% of the EU citizens booked their accommodation online in 2014, the same statistic shows. The Netherlands ranked first, with 69%, followed by France (68%) and Luxembourg (67%).

In Romania, only 7% of the tourists booked their accommodation online. The country thus ranked last in EU, followed by Bulgaria, with 9%.
