13 March 2012

‘Let’s Do It, Romania’ , the national clean-up day will be held on May 12 this year, as part of the international ‘Let’s Do It, World’ civic movement. A total of 85 countries will organize a clean-up day between March 24 and September 25, 2012. Bulgaria, the Republic of Moldavia and Turkey will do the clean-up on the same day as Romania.

Over 500,000 volunteers took part in the first two editions of ‘Let’s Do It, Romania’, in 2010 and 2011,  and over 1.3 million bags of waste were collected. This year’s strategic objective is to increase the recycling rate to 30 percent of the number of bags collected, from a level of 26 percent in 2011, and 17 percent in 2010.
