Romania pays to join Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

Romania wants to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and will pay a USD 6.12 million installment this year for the membership.

The country will make the payment through the Public Finance Ministry, local Agerpres reported.

Romania will subscribe 1,530 shares in AIIB and pay USD 30.6 million in five equal annual tranches.

Headquartered in Beijing, AIIB started operations in January 2016 and has grown to 84 approved members from around the world. Romania is currently a prospective member, together with 19 other countries.
