New association supports tourism development in Buzau area

The “Monteoru Renaissance” association, headquartered in Sarata Monteoru, has started a campaign aiming at promoting and relaunching tourism in the area of Buzau Mountains and Dealu Mare Region. The main activity will focus on the village and spa facilities of Sarata Monteoru.

The iniator and co-founder of “Monteoru Renaissance” association is Juranda Zielinski, who returned to Romania after 15 years spent in Poland, France and Germany. Her uncle was the mayor of Sarata Monteoru, leading the village for over 30 years, at the beginning of the 20th century.

"The entire Buzau region has a huge tourism potential, which nowadays is not capitalized in any way. (…) For me, Dealu Mare (The Big Hill) is like Toscana of Romania, maybe just a little bit dustier ,” said Juranda Zielinski.

The association plans to promote the area in collaboration with the local authorities. It is currently elaborating a tourism masterplan . An important feature will be the use of structural funds.

The Association Monteoru Renaissance wants to preserve the historical heritage of the area and to promote a sustainable development in tourism field, especially in the Subcarpathian Area from Buzau and Prahova.
