28 September 2016

President Klaus Iohannis said yesterday that the multinational brigade in Romania, agreed upon at the NATO summit in Warsaw would operate in Craiova.

The decision was made in a meeting of Romania's Supreme Defense Council – CSAT, which took place on Tuesday, September 27.

The President didn’t give any details about the state of negotiations with countries that will participate in the brigade. The talks will continue at the NATO defense ministers’ meeting in October.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced in July, at the beginning of a two-day NATO Summit in Warsaw, that NATO would turn a Romanian Army brigade into a multinational one to increase the Alliance’s presence in Southeast Europe.
