The Police have managed to solve the mystery of the millions of mobile phone SIM cards a man has found on a street in Bucharest last Sunday.

The SIM cards come from a company providing communications services, which had its activity suspended three years ago, according to a statement from Police Section 3, cited by local Stirileprotv.ro. After the company stopped its activity, the SIM cards were stored in the building where its office was operating.

Following renovation works carried out at the building, the bags with the millions of mobile phone SIM cards were thrown together with the construction materials left from the revamping work.

The Police contacted the telephone companies to determine the status of the SIMs, and the investigation continues.

Last Sunday, a man found on a street in Bucharest five bags containing millions of mobile phone SIM cards. As he had no idea what to do with so many mobile phone cards, he decided to take the bags to the National Anticorruption Department (DNA). However, the anticorruption prosecutors sent him to the Police.
