Romanian senator physically assaulted by former PM’s spokesperson

USR senator Mihai Gotiu was physically assaulted by Mirel Palada, former spokesperson of the Ponta Government, yesterday evening, on the set on the Talk B1 TV show.

The two men, invited as guests, had a conflictual discussion during the show, which transformed into physical assault during an advertising break. Palada punched Mihai Gotiu in the face and broke his nose, according to B1’s online news portal. Nadia Ciurlin, the show moderator, announced the incident after the break and continued the show without the two guests.

Mihai Gotiu is a senator from Romania’s young party Save Romania Union (USR).

This was not the only violent incident from yesterday. The Social-Democrat MP Nicu Nita interrupted Adrian Claudiu Prisnel, a fellow MP from USR, during a parliamentary committee meeting, saying “I would kill all of you.”

USR has been criticizing many of the actions pursued by the leading party PSD.
