Mandatory private pension funds’ assets, up one-third in Romania
The mandatory private pension funds had assets of RON 36.1 billion (EUR 7.9 billion) in Romania at the end of May, up 34% over the same period last year, according to the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF).
Government securities held the largest share in these assets. They amounted to about EUR 5 billion, or 63.6%.
Shares ranked second, with EUR 1.6 billion, or 20.9%. Bank deposits came next, amounting to EUR 511 million, or 6.4% of the total.
The mandatory private pension funds had 6.9 million participants at the end of May. The funds active on this segment include Metropolitan Life Pensii, Aripi, AZT Viitorul tau, BCR, BRD, NN and Vital.
