Members in the executive board of Romania’s National Bank (BNR), including the governor Mugur Isarescu, earn about 9% less compared to last year, after the cap on social contributions has been removed and the taxes on high salaries increased, reports local Profit.ro.

Isarescu now has monthly revenues of over RON 55,000 (over EUR 12,000), down 9% compared to September 2016. The governor's revenues are still 23 times higher than the average salary in Romania, which was of RON 2,366 (EUR 518.5) in April.

BNR first deputy governor Florin Georgescu earns over RON 53,200 (EUR 11,666) a month, down 9.4% compared to September 2016.
