Less dairy products sold in last two months in Romania

27 October 2014

Sales of dairy products made in Romania declined by 25% year-on-year in September and October, according to Dorin Cojocaru, president of the employers union in the dairy industry.

“The decrease was mainly registered due to declining purchasing power, which reduced consumption, as well as by the higher quantities of products which entered the Romanian market from the EU, at lower prices, after the Russian embargo,” he added, cited by local Mediafax.

The dairy market is estimated at over EUR 880 million in Romania. The largest players on the Romanian market are Danone, Albalact, Friesland, Olympus, Delaco and Hochland.
