Italian MP: Italy imports Romanian criminals, Romania gets Italian capital

13 April 2017

Luigi Di Maio, Italian deputy and member of the populist party Five Star Movement (M5S), said that Italy has imported 40% of Romania’s criminals, while Romania has imported Italian companies and capital, reports local Mediafax.

“Italy imported from Romania 40% of their criminals. Meanwhile Romania imports from Italy our companies and capital. What a business the European Union is,” Luigi Di Maio wrote on his Facebook page.

He said that Italian companies are coming to Romania because the judicial systems are more efficient here, whereas in Italy the justice doesn’t work.

The Romanian Ambassador to Italy, George Gabriel Bologan, said that this was a message that offended all the Romanian citizens of good faith. “The Romanian community is well integrated in the Italian social structure."
