Romania’s National Company for Road Infrastructure (CNAIR) has attributed the Italian company Tirrena Scavi the contract to build a bridge over the Somes river that will connect the Gilau-Nadaselu segment, already completed, to the rest of the A3 highway.

The Italian company won the auction, outbidding six other companies. It asked for a gross price of RON 25.975 million (EUR 5.7 million).

The Gilau-Nadaselu 8.7-km highway segment, part of the A3 highway, is almost completed, but can’t be used until the bridge is built. This will connect it to the rest of the highway.

Work on this bridge has been postponed for many years. Experts estimate that the bridgework will take about 10 months, which means the deadline will be mid-2018 at the earliest, reports local News.ro.
