Israeli tourists revolted after receiving color bracelets in Romania

25 July 2017

Israeli tourist Arik Kogan reported having received a purple bracelet that indicated his nationality while staying at a hotel in the Romanian Black Sea resort of Mamaia.

The story generated revolt among Israeli tourists who choose to spend their holiday on the Romanian Black Sea coast, reported Israel Hayom, cited by local Profit.ro.

Israeli tourists visiting the Mamaia resort, considered the most attractive destination for Israelis who want to go to the Black Sea, are identified as Israeli with purple bracelets, which they receive from the hotel staff in Romania, according to Arik Kogan.

Kogan was surprised to find that during the first days of vacation everyone recognized him as Israeli. He claims that bar owners were changing prices as soon as a tourist with a purple bracelet came into a bar. The man tried to get a response from the hotel employees who blamed the Turkish travel company Kanfei Meshek, but the company denied having asked for such identification.

The tourist also said he saw lists of different colored bracelets for other groups, such as pensioners, but not for any other foreign groups.
