Microsoft Romania creates new management position to “steal” eMAG’s executive director

Romanian Violeta Luca, who was vice president and executive director of eMAG – the biggest online retailer in Romania -, joins Microsoft Romania as Head of Business Strategy.

Microsoft Romania created the new management position especially for Violeta Luca, who will coordinate the company’s local transformation strategy, Microsoft announced on Friday, June 5.

“Romania is a country with a strong business culture and valuable professionals. We are honored to welcome to our team Romanians that have a passion for technology and are motivated to join our transformational process,” said Kostas Loukas, General Manager of Microsoft Romania, in a press statement.

“It’s a big responsibility for me to join the Microsoft team in a new position they created for me in Romania,” Violeta Luca said.

Violeta Luca has 15 years of experience in retail, consumer electronics and insurance. She worked in sales, marketing, operations and general management. Until recently, Luca was executive director of eMAG, for which she coordinated the product management, B2B sales, online, customer support and after sales departments.

Prior to that, she was Marketing Director (2011-2012) and then CEO of local electronics retailer Flanco (2012-2014). She also worked for Whirlpool Romania, local retailer Marelvi Impex and AIG.

She graduated the Romanian-Canadian MBA program.

Romanian Violeta Luca, who was vice president and executive director of eMAG – the biggest online retailer in Romania -, joins Microsoft Romania as Head of Business Strategy.
