TEDx Bucharest opens applications session, brings local and international perspectives

05 October 2010

The organizers of TEDx Bucharest have opened the applications sessions for the upcoming TEDx Bucharest event on October 15. The event will take place at the Crystal Palace Ballrooms in Bucharest, where 13 speakers from across four countries will create 'a brain spa of ideas', finding a common ground of  innovation between arts, culture, social entrepreneurship, technology, entertainment and design.

Romanian Raluca Ioana van-Staden, best women inventor of 2010, as nominated at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, will share the story of her sensor that can detect cancer in less than 6 minutes.

Having had dinner on the Titanic as Nick Halik, running a marathon at the North Pole as Andrei Rosu, leading Romania’s youth abroad as Radu Tatucu, designing cars as Mihai Panaitescu or being a Romanian dentist like Roland Hermann that services communities in Rwanda, are part of the stories of lives lived to their fullest that will be shared in the TEDx Bucharest event.

International perspectives of out of the box solutions are brought on stage by the social entrepreneur Arnoud Raskin, the founder of Lazy Town – Magnus Scheving, and the former New York Times journalist Eric Weiner – author of the Geography of Bliss.

An array of technology and physics presented by the MIT professor Adrian Bejan and the NASA researcher Andrian Stoica will meet arts and culture perspectives delivered by Catalin Stefanescu and Oana Pellea.

Subscriptions and media accreditation can be made on the www.tedxbucharest.com website during this week.
