Coronavirus pandemic: Seven Romanian counties on Germany’s list of risk areas

10 August 2020

Germany has placed seven counties in Romania on the list of international risk areas, which covers countries and territories designated as presenting an increased risk of infection with SARS-CoV-2.

The seven counties are Argeş, Bihor, Buzău, Neamţ, Ialomiţa, Mehedinţi and Timiş. They have been placed on the list on August 7.

Persons entering Germany, who have spent time in a risk area, need to show a negative Covid-19 test, taken at most 48 hours before entry, or agree to get tested within at most 72 hours from arriving, the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) said. Those who do not comply with the regulations in place can be denied entry to the country.

Testing can be done at the airport, at the family practice, or by the local health authorities. Regardless of the option, testing is compulsory for all travelers coming from risk areas.

The measure of home isolation does not apply to those who show a negative Covid-19 test performed within at most 48 hours before entering Germany, MAE said. If the testing is done upon arrival in Germany, home isolation is required until the results are received.

Furthermore, those arriving in Germany from a risk area need to fill in a public health locator form, MAE explained.
