15 June 2011

Schneider Electric estimates over one million electric cars could be in circulation in 10 to 15 years in Romania, according to the company's president for Romania, Saulo Spaolanse. The estimations are based on global figures, which show that almost 15 percent of the cars in the world will be electric in 10 to 15 years. There are currently 5 million cars registered in Romania, while 600 million vehicles are in circulation across the world.

Schneider wants to develop infrastructure for electric cars. It is already involved in a project for an electric recharging network in Romania, together with Renault, Electrica and Siemens.

The company has recently opened its customer service center, based in Romania and serving its IT division. This is the fourth regional client service center, apart from the ones in Dubai, Philippines and Moscow.
