Romania's Oscar entry movie 'If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle' premieres in the US

The Romanian movie 'If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle' will have its premiere in the US on January 5 and will run in New York until January 18. Director Florin Serban and producer Daniel Mitulescu will attend the screening at Film Forum New York, starting 8 PM, and the official launching afterparty.

Following up are screenings in LA, Palm Springs (Regal, Tahquitz, Canyon Way) on Saturday, January 8, starting 12:30 and on Monday, January 10, starting 15:30.  If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle is Romania's official entry into this year's Oscar competition for Best Foreign Language Film.

Florin Serban’s first feature-length movie, ‘If I Want To Whistle, I Whistle’, got the jury prize Alfred-Bauer award for cinematic innovation in the 60th edition of the Berlinale.  Oscar nominees will be announced on January 25, 2011. The 83rd edition of the U.S. Academy Awards will take place on February 27, 2011 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles.

About "If I want to whistle, I whistle"

Silviu has only 5 days left before his release from the juvenile detention centre. But 5 days becomes an eternity when his mother returns from a long absence to take his younger brother away. A brother whom he raised like a son. Moreover, he has fallen in love with a beautiful social worker. With time running out and his emotions boiling over, Silviu closes his eyes... Freedom, the wind, the road, his first kiss. Anything can happen to him now.
