Romanian song of the week: 'Sat dupa sat', by Robin and the Backstabbers

29 May 2012

Romanian band Robin and the Backstabbers, known for its powerful sound and for the lyrics full of substance inspired from Romania's national poetry recently launched a new song called 'Sat dupa Sat' (translated as 'village after village'), a new entry on radio stations in the country and a promising single for the band.

The new song has a somehow soothing sound, unlike some of the previous songs, which had a lot more energy and a punk feel.

Robin and the Backstabbers launched two years ago when they won the special jury prize for up and coming bands at Stuffstock festival. Their line up is Andrei "Robin" Proca – vocals, guitar, known for his special vocal sound; Florin Vasile – guitar and backing vocals, Vlad Semeşan - bass, and Vladimir Proca - drums.

Commentators place Robin and the Backstabbers somewhere between local band Partizan and US bands Smashing Pumpkins and the Foo Fighters.

Two slightly older songs from the band below, after the new single.
