08 March 2016

Romanian businessmen Dan and Catalin Alexandrescu will open the first theme hotel on the Romanian Black Sea Coast in May this year.

Last year, the two investors sold their business of spices and ingredients for cakes Alex & Comp to Fuchs and Dr. Oetker for EUR 8 million. They used part of the money, namely EUR 5 million, to buy the Bicaz Hotel in Mamaia seaside resort, and another EUR 1 million to revamp it, reports local Profit.ro.

Hotel Bicaz will be turned into the first theme hotel on the Romanian Black Sea Coast, according to Iulian Tenie, the manager of Noy Business Tranzaction, a company owned by Dan and Catalin Alexandrescu,

The interior design, including the furniture, will remind tourists of the famous Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Moreover, both the staff and the entertainment teams will be dressed as pirates.

At first, the hotel will be called Pirates Resort Bicaz. Later on, the owners plan to remove Bicaz from the hotel’s name, according to Tenie.

The 2-star Bicaz Hotel consists of two buildings and has more than 300 beds in 158 double rooms and eight suites. After the revamping process, the hotel will have three stars.
