Romania’s construction sector continues to post fastest growth rate in EU
Romania’s construction sector recorded a 6.9% increase in June compared to the same month of 2019, the fastest growth rate in the European Union, according to Eurostat data.
Still, the growth rate decelerated significantly from almost 50% in January.
In the second quarter of the year, Romania’s production in construction advanced by 10.4% compared to the same period of last year, compared to a 12% decline in the EU. Still, in the first quarter, Romania’s construction sector had increased by over 34%.
Moreover, in June the volume of construction work in Romania was down by 4.8% compared to the previous month, after a 4.2% monthly decline in May and a 1.8% contraction in April.
