Romanian tour operators ask for state support

06 August 2020

Several Romanian tour operators and associations of tour operators asked once again public support from the Government, claiming that their activity has not generated revenues since March but requires an increased work volume.

In exchange, the tour operators are ready to "acknowledge the Government's openness and understanding of the needs of citizens who have contracted or want to contract packages of tourist services," according to the letter they sent to the Executive, published by Economica.net.

According to past information, the Government invited the tour operators to fill online data regarding the holiday packages paid in advance by Romanians and the payments made by the tour operators to air transport companies and hotels abroad.

The tour operators briefly complained about the bureaucracy, at that time, and the talks on this topic remained in limbo.

"Romanian tour operators must be supported to deal with these difficulties, both in the interest of Romanian citizens and to ensure the survival of Romanian operators in front of the foreign competition," reads the letter sent by the tour operators to prime minister Ludovic Orban.
