Sales of dermo-cosmetics in Romania down by 18.5% in Q2

Romanians bought dermo-cosmetic products from pharmacies worth RON 58.6 mln (EUR 12 mln) in April-June, 18.5% less than in the same period last year.

The most in-demand products were those for facial care (40.5% of the total, in value terms), followed by those for the body (19%), and those for hair care (18.2%), Ziarul Financiar reported.

These three market segments account for over 75% of the value of this market.

The most substantial decrease was seen in the segment of facial care, where sales were 16.6% lower than in Q2 2019, followed by the body care products (-9.5%), and those in the category hair care (-5.8%).

Make-up products, deodorants, and sunscreen also registered significant decreases compared to the second quarter of 2019. In terms of volume, dermo-cosmetics sales totaled 970,000 boxes, down 17%.
