(P) The American International School of Bucharest (AISB) launches the 2016 Scholarship Competition

A tradition at the AISB, the AISB Scholarship Competition for grades 8 and 9 starts on March 1st.  Two (2) full scholarships for the 2016 – 2017 school year are available for students entering either grade 8 or grade 9.  In order to offer more possibilities to interested candidates as well as make the process more efficient, there have been changes in the application procedure.

If you are interested in applying for a scholarship at AISB, email Ms. Sandra Ziptzer at sziptzer@aisb.ro by the morning of March 1st, 2016 to register for the Scholarship Open House.  You will need to provide full names of all participants. Please note that you will not be able to enter the campus unless you were previously registered.

Whether you attend the Open House or not, you can follow the steps below to continue the application process:

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION – March 5th at 8:30 AM

Any interested candidate may participate in this 3 hour examination.

Candidates will receive English, Math and Non-Verbal tests.  Prior registration is compulsory. Please email sziptzer@aisb.ro with your full name and grade to register for the exam. Please note that you will not be able to enter the campus unless you were previously registered.

Candidates will be informed of the exam results on Monday, March 7th via email.

Students who have passed the exam on March 5th will be invited to put together a file including:

  • Student essay written according to the following guidelines:
    • information about you and your family
    • Details about how and why you came to apply for a scholarship to AISB
    • Description of your goals for the future
  • Copy of applicant’s birth certificate
  • An essay / portfolio / presentation which shows the committee who you are as a learner
  • Official academic transcripts for the past two full academic years and the first half of your current 7th / 8th Grade school year
  • Student Reference forms completed – in sealed envelopes
  • Parent Questionnaire completed – by parents
  • Financial info – by parents

All candidates selected in the first round of exams will be invited to file their application and take a more complex examination on March 26th from 8:30. There is no registration needed for this as this is by invitation only.

The AISB Scholarship Committee, comprising educators, administration, parents and members of the business office of the school will review all files and will invite several students for an interview on April 16th from 8:30 AM. Invitations will be made individually to the selected candidates.  There is no registration needed for this as this is by invitation only.

Scholarships will be awarded no later than April 18th and each remaining candidate will be informed individually of his/her result.
