About 83 percent of Romanians watch TV daily and their favorite programs are the news, according to a research report conducted by the Romanian Institute for Evaluation and Strategy (IRES).

Only 10 percent of Romanians watch TV several times per week, while only 3 percent only once per week. According to the research, 1 percent of the people living in Romania turn on the TV once per month, and 0.4 percent don’t ever watch TV.

Almost 60 percent of the respondents usually watch TV to get informed, 8 percent for entertainment, while 3 percent turn on the TV just because they have nothing else to do. 21 percent of Romanians also watch movies on the TV daily, while 81 percent turn  on the TV to watch the news, every day.
