Johan Strauss Ensemble brings 'Best of Vienna' chamber music to Romania in December

The Austrian chamber music orchestra Johann Strauss Ensemble will perform in Romania in December, within their Romanian national Christmas tour. The Bucharest show, under the name Best of Vienna, will he held on December 11 at Sala Palatului in the capital city, starting 20,00 hours. The show will include compositions which became famous over time in the Austrian capital city.

The organizers of the event, Project Events and Forward Media & Advertising, have started selling tickets for the show, which start from RON 50 and go up to RON 250. Tickets can be bought from the Sala Palatului ticket booth, in Diverta, Muzica stores and in Eminescu bookshop, as well as online on biletoo.ro, myticket.ro, bilete.ro, blt.ro and ticketpoint.ro.

About Johan Strauss Ensemble and conductor Russel McGregor

The Johann Strauss Ensemble was set up in 1985. The conductor of the orchestra and the first violonist is Russel McGregor, who is also the main conductor of the Vienna Schonbrunn palace.

Russell McGregor was born in Oxford, England and grew up in Melbourne, Australia where he began to learn the violin. He completed his Diploma of Arts in Music at the Victorian College of the Arts. Russell has been living in Vienna, Austria since 1992 and is a member of the Vienna Concertverein and performs regularly with the Camerata Salzburg. Russell McGregor conducts in the Golden hall in the Musikverein, Vienna concert hall and has performed with Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carreras, Ildiko Raimondi and many others.

A particular highlight was a Strauss concert in the world famous Opera house in Sydney, Australia. In South America Russell McGregor performed Vieneese music in football stadiums to 15,000-20,000 people. Furthermore, he is invited yearly to perform and teach in Iran. Russell McGregor plays on a Carlo Giuseppe Testore violin from 1697.
