Romanian individual investors buy EUR 400 mln of Govt. debt

Romanian natural persons bought Government bonds worth roughly RON 2 billion (EUR 400 million) under the latest round of the Fidelis issues launched in mid-August, Economica.net reported.

The papers will be listed on the local stock exchange (BVB) as of August 13.

Individual investors subscribed RON 562 mln (EUR 116 mln) worth of two-year bonds and RON 662 mln (EUR 137 mln) worth of four-year local bonds.

The most significant demand was for five-year bonds denominated in euro, with a 2% coupon attached, namely EUR 168 mln (RON 815 mln).

According to the Finance Ministry, the issue in euro was a first of this kind for households.
