In the last five years, 88 Romanian doctors specialized in plastic surgery have gone to work in the European Union. The hospitals in Romania currently have 367 doctors with this specialty.
Another 348 doctors specializing in anesthesia and intensive care have left the country since 2010. Romania now has 1,900 intensive care doctors, according to the Health Ministry, reports local Economica.net.
In the last eight years, over 36,000 doctors, dentists and pharmacists obtained from the Health Ministry the certificated needed to work in the EU. Last year, about 2,450 doctors requested the documents which are needed to perform in the EU. Most of them are family doctors, doctors of obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery and intensive care.
About 55,000 doctors were left in Romania last year, both in the private and public sector. Over 12,650 of them are family doctors.
Less than 15,000 dentists and about 17,000 pharmacists were active in Romania last year.
