Heineken sees single-digit beer sales volume increase in Romania in six months

24 August 2011

Beer producer Heineken grew its sold beer volume in Romania in the mid single-digits in the first half of this year, contributing to market share gains. “EBIT (beia) grew significantly led by improved price mix and lower fixed costs,” the company has announced in its recent financial report.

“Group beer volume in Central & Eastern Europe increased 7.5 percent, reflecting growth across Russia, Poland, Romania and Austria and continued volume weakness in Greece,” according to the beer maker.

The company sells beer brands such as Golden Brau, Bucegi and Ciuc in Romania. From April, Heineken started to import other eight international brands of the group’s portfolio: Amstel, Birra Moretti, Krusovice, Foster’s, Murphy’s, Strongbow, Sol and Desperados.
