Heat wave and Saharan sand particles cross Romania this week-end

11 June 2010

A heat wave has hit Romania triggering temperatures of over 35 degrees Celsius (97 degrees Fahrenheit) and will continue to affect Bucharest and 19 counties in East, South and West of the country until Saturday evening. A Yellow Code warning has been issued across Romania.

Air with particles of sands from Sahara will also cross above Romania during these days. Sand storms in the desert carry the sand up in the air, from where it gets transported all over the globe. The particles of sand usually stay for one or two days, after which they create clouds and trigger rain. This phenomenon will repeat throughout the entire summer.
