Media suspects hoax on Axl Rose's cancellation of concerts via Twitter; local organizers expect official announcement

16 August 2010

Axl Rose, the leading singer of rock band Guns n'Roses, has announced the cancellation of all upcoming concerts. The announcement came on his Twitter account. However,  media reports quoting various concert organizers say this was a hoax.
D&D Entertainment, the company which is organizing the Guns N'Roses concert due to Bucharest on September 21st, is awaiting for an official announcement from the rock band, which has not announced the cancellation on their web page.
International media  and concert organizers across the world, which were expecting the band on tour, said however this could be a hoax and that Axl Rose' s Twitter account could have been hacked. An article written by Billboard pointed out the fact Rose is not active on Twitter. "Festival Republic are informed by GN'R management that Guns N' Roses have NOT canceled their performances at Reading & Leeds and that Axl Rose's twitter account was hacked into and all claims of dates being cancelled are unfounded," said a Festival Republic statement today (Aug. 16). "All upcoming Guns N' Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds,"  Axl Rose allegedly wrote on his Twiter page.

Guns N’Roses was found in Los Angeles, California in 1985. The best-selling album is “Appetite for Destruction”, with over 38 million copies sold worldwide. After 1993, the band was abolished but in 2008 they released a comeback album.
