08 June 2015

German retailer Kaufland has launched a new brand called “My Country” in partnership with the National Federation of Trade Unions in Agriculture, Food, Tobacco, Domains and Related Services AGROSTAR.

The retailer will sell under this brand vegetables, fruits, cereals and meat produced in Romania, reports local Economica.net.

The project works as an integrated agricultural cooperative, which includes over 320 farmers, three companies which process raw materials and a pig farm. It aims to process the raw materials, obtained via the cooperative, into finished products, sold under the “My Country” brand in retail.

The 200 farmers which produce for “My Country” cultivate a 60-hectare area with vegetables, some 30 hectares of orchards, and 6,000 hectares with cereals. The project helped create 1,000 new jobs.
