Exclusive: Romanian to replace expat at helm of GTS Telecom Romania
Michael Rees (in picture above), who has been leading the GTS Telecom subsidiary in Romania since November 2011, will be replaced by Razvan Stoica, the former head of sales in the company, who was promoted managing director of the local subsidiary, Romania-Insider.com has learned.
“Michael Rees is going back into corporate development role within GTS CE and Razvan Stoica is being promoted to Managing Director of the Romanian business unit, GTS Telecom," GTS Telecom Romania representatives told Romania-Insider.com.
Stoica (in picture, right), who has been working with GTS Romania for the last 13 years, will take on the new role at the beginning of March this year. Previously, he was sales director for nine months, operations director for seven years, from 2005, and wholesale manager with GTS, between 2002 and 2005. Prior to joining GTS, Razvan Stoica worked with KPNQwest Romania as sales manager and wholesale manager. The 43 year old is a graduate of the Polytechnics University, with a degree in Electronics& Telecommunications, and holds an MBA from the University of Sheffield, as well as a diploma from the Chartered Management Institute, UK.
Michael Rees joined GTS Central Europe in August 2010, bringing over 13 years of telecommunications industry experience to GTS. He was named manager of the Romanian subsidiary in November 2011. Prior to GTS, he worked with Cavalier Telephone and OnFiber Communications. He holds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Boston University and an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.
Infrastructure–based provider GTS Telecom ended 2012 with revenues of EUR 20 million and an EBITDA profit (before interest, taxes,depreciation and amortization) of EUR 5 million in Romania. The profit was up 10 percent versus 2011, according to the company. GTS Telecom provides national and international solutions for data transport, voice, internet access, cloud services and collocation in its own data centers in Bucharest, where it has 130 employees.
