Andrei studied finance at the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and started his journalism career in 2004 with Ziarul Financiar, the leading financial newspaper in Romania, where he worked for ten years, the last six of which as editor of the capital markets section. He joined the Romania-Insider.com team in 2014 as editor and became Editor-in-Chief in 2016. He currently oversees the daily content published on Romania-Insider.com and likes to stay up to date with everything relevant in business, politics, and life in Romania. Andrei lives with his family in the countryside in Northern Romania, where he built their own house. In his free time, he studies horticulture and tends to his family’s garden. Simona joined the Romania Insider team in 2015, first working on our travel guide in English and, later, writing features and interviews for Romania-insider.com. She holds a BA in Romanian and English and an MA in American Studies from the University of Bucharest and started her journalism career in 2003.  Simona divides her time between her hometown Ploiești and Bucharest. Romania's foreign currency reserves, deposited at the Romanian Central Bank (BNR) dropped by EUR 362 million in June, reaching EUR 31.98 billion, according to data from BNR. This is the second time in a row when BNR's forex reserves drop. In June EUR 792 million entered Central bank's coffers and EUR 1.15 billion of the reserve came out.

Miroslaw Smyk, the head of Romtelecom's TV division, has decided to leave the company as of July 1st. Smyk, who has been managing the TV division since 2007, has been in charge of Romtelecom's growth on the TV segment. Before becoming Gm of the TV division, he has been in charge of the IPTV project within Romtelecom.

The Romanian Central Bank (BNR) has kept the key interest rate at 6.25 percent, which is the minimum so far in Romania, as most analysts had forecasted. BNR has also kept the minimum mandatory reserves to RON passives at 15 percent, at at 25 percent for foreign currencies.
