Andrei studied finance at the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and started his journalism career in 2004 with Ziarul Financiar, the leading financial newspaper in Romania, where he worked for ten years, the last six of which as editor of the capital markets section. He joined the Romania-Insider.com team in 2014 as editor and became Editor-in-Chief in 2016. He currently oversees the daily content published on Romania-Insider.com and likes to stay up to date with everything relevant in business, politics, and life in Romania. Andrei lives with his family in the countryside in Northern Romania, where he built their own house. In his free time, he studies horticulture and tends to his family’s garden. Romanian state-owned gas company Romgaz will purchase natural gas from import, through negotiations on Vienna Gas Exchange from June 2011, according to the company. This will be a first for the Romanian company and it means that the company will get gas at lower prices compared to the current imports based on the contracts Romgaz mainly concluded with Gazprom.

The European Union will organize a conference in Bucharest in October, to discuss programs assisting Roma people, Laszlo Andor, EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, said in an interview quoted by Mediafax. Andor added the high officials to attend the conference will discuss ways to better implement programs supporting Roma people. The exact date of the conference is yet to be put forward.

Romanian state-owned passenger railway company CFR Calatori will raise railway transport tariffs by 8 percent from September 20 and it will maintain discounts for commuters, school pupils and university students, the company has said. The increase in railway transport tariffs was initially planned for September 15, but it was put off for a later date.

Oil company Petrom will organize a 4 km running race from Piata Constitutiei in Bucharest, on September 26, from 11,00 hours. This project, the Petrom Running Competition, began in 2006 and for each runner, one more meter of bicycle lanes is being built in Bucharest. Until now, 4.200 meters of the bike tracks were built in the capital city due to this plan.
