Survey: Bucharest residents trust mayor, former anticorruption prosecutor most

Bucharest mayor Gabriela Firea is the politician Bucharest residents trust most, according to a CURS survey conducted only in the capital.

A total of 49% of the respondents said they had a good and very good opinion about Firea, according to the survey, quoted by daily Adevarul.

Although not a politician, Laura Codruţa Kovesi, the former head of the Anticorruption Department (DNA), ranked second, with 47% of respondents reporting they have a good and very good opinion about her.

Călin Popescu Tăriceanu, the Senate president and leader of ruling coalition partner ALDE (the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats), came out third in the survey, gathering a good and very good opinion from 42% of respondents.

President Klaus Iohannis ranked fourth, as 34% of respondents said they had a good and very good opinion about him.

Former prime minister Victor Ponta, who set up last year the Pro Romania party, came out fifth, as 31% of respondents said they had a good and very good opinion of him.

Dacian Cioloş, another former prime minister and leader of the Plus party, ranks seventh, with 28% of respondents saying they have a good and very good opinion of him.  

The survey was conducted in Bucharest, between February 21 and March 11, among 1,067 respondents and has an error margin of +/-3%.
