Romania’s daily coronavirus cases remain above 1,000, total exceeds 88,000

Romania recorded 1,053 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the total to 88,593 on Tuesday, September 1, according to the daily report released at 13:00.

Separately, 586 patients who were retested still had the Covid-19 infection.

Of the total confirmed cases, 38,454 patients have recovered, while 11,175 asymptomatic patients were discharged ten days after the diagnosis.

In the last 24 hours, 60 coronavirus patients died, the highest number of daily deaths since the start of the pandemic. This brings the total death toll to 3,681.

Of those who passed away in the past 24 hours, one was aged between 30 and 39, two were aged between 40 and 49, six were aged between 50 and 59, 16 were aged between 60 and 69, 18 were aged between 70 and 79, and 17 were older than 80. Fifty-eight of them had previous medical conditions.

At the same time, the number of coronavirus patients admitted to intensive care units also reached a new high, at 552. Overall, 7,164 coronavirus patients are admitted to hospitals in the country.

Furthermore, 1,825,272 tests were carried out by September 1, 22,320 of them in the past 24 hours. Of these, 8,803 were carried out on request.

By the same date, 9,294 people who tested positive for the Covid-19 infection were isolating at home, while 5,880 people were under institutionalized isolation. Another 32,434 people were under quarantine at home, while 71 people were under institutionalized quarantine.
