Coronavirus pandemic: 825 new cases confirmed in Romania in 24 hours

Romanian officials reported 825 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 79,330 on Monday, August 24, according to the official daily report

Separately from the new cases, 285 patients retested positive for the COVID-19 infection. 

More than 1.65 million tests were performed in Romania so far, of which 6,460 in the last 24 hours.  

A total of 35,517 patients were declared cured so far, and 9,574 asymptomatic patients were discharged ten days after the diagnosis.  

Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 3,309. A total of 37 deaths were reported between August 23 (10:00) and August 24 (10:00), in the age categories of 10-19 years (one death), 40-49 years (2 deaths), 50-59 years (2 deaths), 60-69 years (11 deaths), and 70-79 years (12 deaths), and 80+ years (9 deaths). All patients had previous medical conditions.  

The number of COVID-19 patients treated in intensive care units was 494 on Monday, August 24. In total, 7,410 coronavirus patients are hospitalized.  

The same report announced that 10,742 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated at home, and 5,433 are in institutionalized isolation. Also, 29,404 people are under quarantine at home, and 37 are in institutionalized quarantine.
