Children’s Museum opens in downtown Bucharest

26 August 2020

Children’s Museum, a project of the Bucharest City Hall, was inaugurated on Tuesday, August 25, in the Unirii area in downtown Bucharest.

The new Museum has 110 rooms, is structured on thematic sections, covering fields such as technology, geography, history, art, and culture, and has 25 permanent interactive exhibitions. It can be visited free of charge until the end of the year, according to mayor Gabriela Firea.

“We wanted to create a space where children can see with their own eyes, through virtual reality or in themed mini-labs, what science actually means: robotic arms, holograms, 3D printers, submarine simulators or rockets,” the mayor wrote on Facebook.

In the anatomy section, visitors can see what a miniature operating room looks like or learn how to provide first aid.

The children can also make a virtual journey through space or underwater or walk through a botanical garden or a virtual zoo. There is also a gaming area, a radio and TV studio, and a graphic design lab.

Given the current epidemiological situation, the Children’s Museum will be disinfected regularly, and disinfectants, masks, and gloves will be provided to both employees and visitors, Gabriela Firea also said. In addition, although the Museum can welcome 350 visitors simultaneously, measures have been taken to reduce the number of visitors to 100. Visits can be booked online at pmb.ro or proedus.ro.

The new Children’s Museum is open Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00.
