Bucharest becomes home to International Experimental Film Festival this month

The Artpromo Cultural Foundation organizes the Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival (EXPIFF), which will take place between November 24 and 28 in Bucharest. The event is supported by the National University of Drama and Film Bucharest, the National Art University and the Romanian National Cinema Center.

This is the first edition of the event which will feature an international competition for short experiemental movies, as well as other cultural events. The festival's screenings will take place at the Scala cinema (2 Magheru Blvd), which will host the shorts competition, the Romanian retrospective and the special feature length film screenings and at the Sala Dalles (18 Nicolae Balcescu Blvd), which will host the off competition shorts, the American night and the German evening.

The festival will also feature a masterclass with director Peter Greenaway on November 24 at the National University of Drama and Film Bucharest (UNATC) on 75-77 Matei Voievod St in Bucharest. The masterclass is open to the public.

The festival will open with the screening of' Rembrandt J'Accuse', the latest feature directed by Peter Greenaway (trailer below). Greenaway is one of the key voices of avant-guard contemporary cinema, one of the most ambitious and controversial experimental filmmakers of our times. He has directed 12 feature films and 50 short-films and documentaries, which got regularly nominated for the Film Festival Competitions of Cannes, Venice and Berlin.
