BCR grants EUR 517 million housing loans within the First House program

Banca Comercială Romana (BCR) has granted EUR 517 million of loans in the First House 1 and 2 programs, more than a third of its quota within the program.  Most of the loans were granted in Bucharest – over 4,000 loans, worth a total of EUR 196 million. 2,700 loans were given in Transylvania, worth EUR 100 million, and 1,500 loans in Banat and Crisana region, some other EUR 58 million.

BCR's bank units in Cluj hold the record of the bank's chain, having granted 900 loans, with a total value of EUR 32 million. The average value of a loan granted by BCR in the second stage of the First House 2 program was of EUR 40,000, while 800 loan files were approved for the maximum value allowed by law, EUR 57,000.

The state-guaranteed First House program has been blocked since January 1 this year, according to Romanian media quoting Governmental sources. A new Government decision on allotting the state guarantees is required for the program to continue. As many as 30,500 loans were granted within the First House program, which allowed Romanians buy their first house on mortgage loans backed by the state, of up to EUR 60,000.
