Anthem Day celebration shortly impacts downtown car traffic this morning
Romania celebrates its National Anthem Day today – public ceremonies will be organized in the Tricolor square across the Cercul Militar building. Car traffic will be restricted in the area from 9,30 in the morning to 11,00 hours on the first lane on calea Victoriei, between Matei Millo street and Regina Maria boulevard and on Constantin Mille street, between Calea Victoriei and Ion Brezoianu street.

July 29 was named the National Anthem day to celebrate the Romanian revolution in 1848, it was then when the anthem was sung for the first time.
The national anthem is based on a poem by Andrei Muresanu, on a melody by an unknown creator, which was picked up by Anton Pann. The song became Romania's anthem after 1989, being included among the national symbols – along with the country's flag and seal- through the 1991 constitution.
