Polish operator sticks with plans to open six Burger King restaurants in Romania this year

20 July 2020

Polish group AmRest, one of the largest European restaurant and food service platforms and the operator of the Burger King franchise in Romania, expects to meet the target of opening six restaurants in the country by the end of the year despite the coronavirus pandemic.

AmRest has already opened three Burger King restaurants in Romania this year, including one after the coronavirus outbreak, in central Bucharest. Works on the other three to be opened by the end of the year are underway, News.ro reported.

As regards the business, the company was severely hit by the lockdown measures during the state of emergency, but re-oriented towards home delivery services quite successfully, according to Alan Laughlin, president Burger King CE – AmRest.

The company has received some 60,000 orders during the three months since the end of the state of emergency.

The main issue remains the uncertainty, Alan Laughlin, suggesting that authorities’ providing more insights about future steps would help players in Horeca adjust their plans.
