Five airports in Romania will get state aid to cover COVID-19 losses

21 August 2020

Romania’s Government adopted a memorandum for granting state aid to local airports with a traffic of 200,000 to 3 million passengers per year.

The state aid should cover the losses these airports have incurred because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Five airports will get total funds worth RON 22.3 mln (EUR 4.6 mln) from the Government, Hotnews.ro reported. The beneficiaries are the companies that operate the international airports in Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Sibiu, Craiova, and Bacau.

The state aid needs to be approved by the European Commission and the final details will be set through an emergency ordinance.
