Actavis plans to grow exports but expects stagnating turnover this year

Pharmaceutical producer Actavis expects to reach EUR 6 million in exports to the United States, which could become its main export market. The company, which owns the former Sindan factory in Romania, hopes to achieve a 20 percent increase in exports this year, according to the company's newly appointed general manager Alina Culcea.

The company's turnover was of EUR 107 million last year, a drop compared to 2008. It expects its turnover to stagnate this year. Actavis' exports to countries like US, Japan, Australia, South Africa and to the European Union reached EUR 28 million last year.

The company's profit margin was of 15 percent, but it foresees a margin of 10 percent this year. Actavis' factory will receive a EUR 2.5 million cash injection which will upgrade the unit, now working at 80 percent capacity.
