American industrial group Honeywell is considering building a brake pad factory near Ploiesti in Romania. This would be the first Honeywell factory fully equipped with the Hot Press latest technology, according to the company.

The new factory in Romania would allow the group to operate closer to its clients' production facilities in Eastern Europe, said Rainer Bostel, head of Honeywell Friction Materials division. The company's CEO David Cote came to Romania this spring to discuss the possibility of a state aid for a EUR 100 million investment, according to previous media reports.

Honeywell has 1,500 employees in Romania and runs two factories, one in Lugoj - Honeywell Life Safty- and one in Bucharest - Honeywell Turbo Technologies.

Electronic equipment and systems provider Honeywell has recently rented 3,000 sqm in the Upground office complex located in Pipera, Bucharest, through Jones Lang LaSalle, according to the company. This is part the company’s expansion strategy, as Honeywell already has offices in the area. According to Honeywell’s website, its headquarters are in Floreasca Business Park, while another location listed is Iuliu Maniu Blvd East of Bucharest.
